“If You Don’t Think School Photos Matter Now… Just Wait.”

By Eric Miller, President – MillerFoto

My school portrait from 1969 is still one of my most treasured photos.

Not because it’s perfect — it’s not.

.

It’s a classic old-school portrait with the crooked collar, uneven haircut, and that stiff little smile every kid had back then.

But here’s why it matters:

It’s one of the last clear snapshots of who I was as a kid.Time fades memories.Photos preserve them.

That’s exactly why school photography is so important — now more than ever.

Why School Portraits Truly Matter

Most parents don’t realize how fast childhood moves until they look back:

  • Fall school portraits

  • Spring portraits

  • Holiday photos at school

  • Sports photos in their little jerseys

  • Senior portraits before graduation

Each one captures a chapter of your child’s story that will never happen again.

As a school photographer, I see this every day. Kids change quickly — height, smile, style, confidence. School portraits preserve every milestone.

Holiday Portraits at School: Small Moments, Big Memories

Holiday portraits are some of my personal favorites.Kids bring all the excitement, the joy, the sparkle of the season — and when they look back years later, these photos instantly take them back to that childhood magic.

This is why schools love offering them, and why parents treasure them.

School Sports Photos: The Real Beginning of Team Pride

If you’ve ever watched a player light up when they see their team photo, you know why sports photography matters. Those jerseys, those teammates, those early accomplishments — these become some of the most cherished images of their youth.

Senior Portraits: The Final Chapter of the School Photography Journey

Then comes the big one:Senior portraits.

After years of school pictures, senior photos mark the moment before they step into adulthood. It deserves to be captured with skill, intention, and heart.

At MillerFoto, we treat senior portraits with the respect they deserve — real posing, real lighting, real personality.

Why MillerFoto Takes School Photography Seriously

We’re not just taking pictures. We are preserving a child’s timeline:

  • From kindergarten portraits

  • To holiday photos

  • To middle school sports

  • To high school seniors

One season at a time.

Someday, that student is going to look back at their own portraits from 2024, 2028, 2033 — just like I look back at my portrait from 1969 — and they’ll be grateful someone took the photo… and printed it.

My Message to Every Parent and School Leader

Don’t put off the photos that matter.Print them.Save them.Protect them.

If you don’t think school photos are important today…wait until they are all you have left.

And that’s why we show up prepared, treat every child like family, and deliver consistent, high-quality school photography year after year.

Because these photos don’t just sit in an envelope.

They become the proof that childhood happened.
